Local area veterans enjoyed the program as ACPS students performedIn Honor of Veterans, ACHS Held a Veterans Day Program in the High School Auditorium on Wednesday, November 11. The Program Featured student performances from the ACHS Concert Choir, Girls and Chamber Ensemble and ACMS Intermediate/Advanced Chorus, and ACMS Piano Lab II all directed by Mrs. Linda Litten. Also performing were students from the ACHS Concert Band, ACMS Advanced Band and ACMS Beginning Band, directed by Mr. Ryan Stahl. ACHS was proud and honored to have Major General John P. McLaren as the guest speaker.
MAJ GEN McLaren served in numerous positions and locations throughout his more than three decade long career in the United States Army. Since receiving his Army commission as a Second Lieutenant in 1974, he has served as Commanding General of the U.S. Army Reserve’s 80th Training Command, Vice Commander for the Joint War Fighting Center, Deputy Joint Forces Trainer for the U.S. Joint Forces Command and Commander of the Iraq Assistant Group. In many of these roles, Major General McLaren was tasked with training and developing those that keeps us safe and those that ensure the safety of others around the world. Since retiring from military service in 2011, Major General McLaren has taken on a different kind of challenge, as he currently works as the Director of Business Development and Construction Operations for a construction firm in Newport News, Virginia.
