ACPS School Board Members and Gov. Terry McAuliffe Attend the ACHS Seniors' Decision Day EventACHS held its first ever Decision Day event spearheaded by Ms. Tamayo, our College and Career Counselor and our Counseling Department. Ms. Tamayo has been an invaluable addition to our ACHS Team this year and her efforts were recognized at a whole new level, as Governor, Terry McAuliffe visited our School last Friday, April 21st to address our seniors and celebrate Decision Day 2017 with us! This was a great honor and we thank Governor McAuliffe for his dedication to education throughout the Commonwealth as well as his recognition of the big things being done even in small communities like Amelia. Go Raiders!
What is Decision Day?
Across the country, College Advising Corps programs celebrate school seniors’ hard work and accomplishments in pursuit of post-secondary education though “Decision Day.” This is a signature initiative of the College Advising Corps.

The goal of Decision Day is to recognize ALL high school seniors for their post-secondary plans and encourage younger students and families to prepare early for post-secondary education. It is important we celebrate this big step for seniors and involving underclassmen will help build a strong college-going culture. Decision Day is held annually on or around May 1 and is designed to coincide with the date that many seniors must inform a college of their plans to enroll.
